SKETCH TEAM AUDITIONS
OCTOBER 14

The Coalition Theater is casting new sketch comedy teams. These teams will perform 5 Shows each in 2024. Our goal is to cast 2 teams of writers and performers who will alternate performing 1 hour shows on the last saturday of the month.

Sketch Teams will be expected to meet most weeks for writing and workshopping their shows. Teams will consist of any mix of writers and performers however there will be no assigned roles unless individual performers volunteer to exclude themselves from any activities; for example if you like to write but don’t like to get on stage that is totally fine.

Please sign up below, if you’re interested! If you are a writer please bring printed copies of a writing sample, enough for each character in the sketch plus 1 for the audition panel. We will be doing staged readings of your work with a mix of auditioners. Please bring writing samples that have no more than 4 characters.

WHAT WE REQUIRE:

• Previous improv or sketch training. With a demonstrated grasp of performance skills.

• Ability to practice weekly in the lead-up to your debut, and on a consistent basis during your run. (weekly, bi-weekly, etc as needed to ensure consistent show quality.)

• All team members must be 18 years or older.

WHAT TO PREPARE:

Please print your writing sample and bring any props if your sketch is prop dependent.

TIMESLOTS are 2 hours at 9:00 and 11:00 AM.

Breaking Point Auditions
December 2

Breaking Point is a new play written and directed by Elliot Wegman running at the Coalition Theater March 15-17 and 23-24 with a possible extra show in Williamsburg the 22nd.

Sign up for your slot by visiting this link.

Callbacks will be Sunday December 3rd.
These are all paid roles.

SYNOPSIS: The Virginia High School Tennis Doubles championship and a college scholarship are on the line. When playing hard clearly won't work, what will the public school team need to do to knock off the private school 12 time champions? Beg, cheat, employ an ancient cursed artifact?

SEEKING:
Allistair (high school): Rich and conceited. Punchable face. A leader. Prom King material.

Fraser (high school): Freshman with extreme insecurity and a short fuse. A rich Scrappy Doo.

Caleb (high school): The jokester. Hides investment and fear of failure with humor most of the time.

Cameron (high school): Sensitive. The moral compass. Tortured by how much is riding on this.

Coach 1 (60s+): A legend of high school tennis. Talks in riddles. Profound if you can figure out what they're saying.
Coach 2 (20s+): Desperate for approval and to feel they're connecting with the kids, wants to be one of the guys.
The Ref (20s+): Here for the paycheck.

This is a boys' high school tennis match but I encourage all genders to audition. I would lean toward the high schoolers passing for high schoolers but otherwise am open to casting anyone for any role. There is a high probability the two coaches and ref will all be played by the same person.

Please direct any questions to wegman@rvacomedy.com.
Please prepare a 1-2 minute comedic monologue and sign up for a slot with this link:
